Satellite AIS provider exactEarth has announced the release of a two-year archive of global maritime vessel locations.
The company is calling this a "totally unique historical record of global shipping covering every part of the world’s oceans."
"Our archive represents the most complete record of satellite AIS vessel movements on a global scale," said Peter Mabson, president of exactEarth. "It is a true testament to our long-standing, and world-leading, operational capability in the satellite-AIS area."

"With continual improvements being made in our unique ground-based processing capabilities, as well as recent expansions in our superior satellite constellation, we have seen a 50 per cent increase in our operational capability in just the last 6 months. This has resulted in exactEarth now receiving and processing a staggering 1 million AIS messages a day from space for our ever expanding user community."
The exactAIS Archive will allow data to be accessed using a selection of search criteria, including date and time range; geographical area; AIS message type; ship MMSI list; ship type; and country flag.
